Conclusions: The findings from this study suggest that Reiki can elicit the relaxation response and alter emotions and perception in such a way as to facilitate a transformative subjective healing experience. Future work will analyze these themes as they relate to changes in symptoms and compare the experience of Reiki with other biofield therapies
.Publish August 2022: Reiki helps with post-operative pain
Published in Holistic Nursing Practice, the study hypothesized Reiki would reduce post-operative pain, blood pressure, respiratory rate and anxiety. This was conceived as a three-group pilot study (15 patients per group), randomized and blinded. The method included a routine standard of care group, a Reiki group and, additionally, a sham Reiki group.
